Does the USA still follow the spirits of this poem ?

I hardly doubt that the US still follows the spirits of this poem , due to the enforced laws we have now , and the hope that basically died . This poem was probably , at one point , the main reason for people who were once nothing to become actually something . It even allowed almost anybody just to be here , but now ; it`s a whole another story .
