Does The USA Still Follow The Spirits of The Colossus Poem?

The U.S. doesn't follow the Colossus poem, and now the U.S. is doing more to keep immigrants out of the country. Some feel that immigrants take away job opportunities from Americans or that they increase crime, but thats not necessarily true. Only until people can realize that all they want is a chance at a better life and can destroy these stereotypes, then this poem can't fit the U.S.
