Does the U.S.A

Follow the spirit of the poem Colossus by Emma Lazarus? I still believe it does in a certain way. In many ways it doesn't. People are welcome to make a new life here. We all have the same opportunities, some just have to work harder for the bigger things. But I do think the Colossus is not followed when it pretty much says that all are welcome. Because not all kinds of people are welcome and when they do arrive they can be stereotyped and mistreated. Things are not like they used to be when immigrants used to pass by Ellis Island in one day. There is so much more to process. Now it could take 20 years even just to be a citizen here. And not everyone from every country is immediately accepted like how the poem sounds. For example if someone was to come from Iraq then that person would not be very welcomed
